I love to research, understand, and explain what some of the more difficult-to-interpret scripture texts are saying. My goal is to always deal with the text in a way that results in the understanding that was in the mind of the biblical speaker or writer, as well as the initial hearers or readers. Realizing that every student of the scriptures needs to fight the tendency to read their own meanings or biases into the text, I seek to employ a hermeneutic (manner of interpretation) that considers the language, culture, history, genre, and context of each individual biblical text. In my blogs and podcasts, my desire and hope are to communicate the truth of God’s word in a way that is accurate, simple, engaging, and relevant to each individual that reads or listens to what I write or say.
